Description
The Honeywell 5800C2W Hardwired to 5800 Wireless Converter enables retrofitting existing 12-volt security systems by converting their wired sensors to Honeywell’s 5800 Series wireless technology. Its ideal uses are to upgrade hardwired systems to LYNX Touch or Lyric systems to provide connected home and business functionality. In addition, it can be used in new construction installations that have been fitted with hardwired systems. Converting existing wired zones to wireless saves on installation cost, time and materials since there is no need to replace wired devices with individual wireless transmitters.
The 5800C2W includes a plugin transformer, but not backup battery. If upgrading from an existing wired panel we recommend using the same backup battery and enclosure. There is no need to power the old panel however so its transformer can be unplugged. If you need a new backup battery we suggest the UltraTech IM-1240.
Honeywell’s 5800C2W is simple to install and extremely flexible. It can power wired PIRs, and the included power supply is backed up with a standard, rechargeable battery (not included). One button calibration automatically configures 5800C2W by learning what zones are in use.
Set-up is a three step process:
- Mount and wire the module
- Calibrate/activate the module zones
- Enroll the module’s wireless zones into the control panel
- Nine hardwired zones with end-of-line resistor protection – use with existing contacts, PIRs, glassbreaks and other 12V sensors
– Not for use with fire or heat sensors
– It is recommended that any existing smoke, heat or CO detectors be replaced with new Honeywell 5800 Series detectors or SiXSmoke if using Lyric - One-button calibration/activation of zone inputs
- 5800C2W wireless zones enroll in the control panel like any other 5800 Series device
- 5800 Series serial numbers automatically assigned to activated zones
- Power supply included to power PIRs
– 12V 4AH battery provides four hours of standby
– Low battery supervision and notification - Case tamper switch
- Complete supervision of transmitters, zone tampers, low battery
- Module can be mounted next to the control panel being replaced, or relocated if necessary to maximize wireless range

Will the 5800C2W work with Honeywell’s SIX series of wireless transmitters? Will the Alula RE508X universal translator work with SIX series?
Chris –
Because the Honeywell SiX series encryptes all transmissions, no translator will work currently. The 5800C2W will translate to the older Honeywell 5800 series format however which will still work with Lyric. There are no translators out for encrypted devices such as Honeywell’s SiX, DSC PowerG, Alula Cryptix, Qolsys S-Line. The Alula RE508X however will translate to secure Alula Cryptix format, but that is only useful when upgrading to an Alula Connect+ panel.

Great way to upgrade to a newer wireless panel and still use existing hardwired equipment. I purchased two of these (18 zones total capability) and used 16 of them when upgrading from my Ademco Vista-20 (yeah its old). Went with the new Lyric wireless controller and since its compatible with the Honeywell 5800 series wireless these modules did the trick without buying 16 wireless transmitters (which also included three motion sensors). Saw Alula also has a universal translator/converter too (RE508X) but wanted to stick with Honeywell and the Alula model only converts 8 zones per unit rather than 9 with the 5800C2W. Never know when I’ll need those two extra wired zones in the future.
