Your communicator/panel’s IMEI address is how you are registered with Alarm.com. Only ONE dealer at a time can register your cellular IMEI address. Unless your previous dealer has released your IMEI address we will not be able to get you online. If shown currently registered just call your previous dealer and ask them to release your IMEI address so another dealer such as SafeHomeCentral.com can get you registered with Alarm.com, but at lower pricing and No Contract.
In the US only 4G LTE cellular communicators can be registered. Canada still allows 3G (GSM) for now.
Self-monitored security systems are exactly what they sound like, they are alarm systems you technically monitor yourself. The key advantage is the cost savings over a professional UL central station dispatch plan while still retaining the modern interactive features that Alarm.com and their smartphone app provides. This includes not only notification of alarms and trouble issues at home received on the Alarm.com app but also remote arm and disarm control of your security system plus Z-Wave home automation and video options as well.
In areas where police response can be very slow the motivation for central station dispatch may not be very strong. Its not for everyone. Many people just want interactive control of their alarm and home automation devices.
Keep in mind “you” are responsible for calling your local police, fire, or medical departments in the event of an emergency at home with self-monitoring. If you miss the app alert on your phone or out of a WIFI or cellular service area an emergency may not be acted upon, at least in a timely manner. This is why we always recommend 24×7 UL central station dispatch to customers. Few insurance companies offer the typical 10% – 20% annual discount on premiums with self-monitored alarm systems.
* Pricing shown includes a 15% annual pre-pay discount. A one-time $15 activation fee applies to all new Alarm.com accounts.
Only LTE cellular communicators can be activated with Alarm.com in the US

I can’t believe I used anyone else prior to SafeHomeCentral! Chris has been amazing at setting up my system. They are friendly, easy to use and reliable!!! Not only that, I am saving money every month compared to the company I used to use!!! I would highly recommend them!!
These people are friendly and knowledgable about alarm systems which was a breath of fresh air after dealing with Brinks the past three years. Was easy to switch once Brinks got their act in gear to cancel my existing Alarm.com account so I could signup with SHC. I had a problem with a door contact that Brinks just could not correct for months but Chris figured it out over the phone in minutes! Been telling my neighbors how to save money.
Just added my third location (store) with SHC. The pricing is great but what keeps me coming back is they are knowledgeable of Qolsys panels and they offer tech support on the weekends when this is the only time I get to spend time on these kinds of projects. Highly recommend service with these people!
Definitely the right monitoring company. Low cost, no contract, great tech support, open every day for any questions! Hard to go wrong.
Excellent service. Their response time is faster than Brinks and less than half the price for Alarm.com monitoring and dispatch. Took under an hour getting setup. All I had to do other than signup for service was send a cell test from my Qolsys panel. If I knew it was this easy I would have moved when my contract with Brinks expired months ago. Thanks to Andrew on Chat getting me registered! The tech support is awesome as well!
I had a 2GIG GC2 with a 3G cell card that Brinks did not yet update. I unfortunately cancelled Alarm.com service with them before understanding that an LTE cell card is required for new service with any dealer. Alarm.com could have pushed me a firmware update to my panel so my panel would accept an LTE card but once the service was discontinued that option was off the table. I bought an update cable on Amazon and updated the GC2 firmware myself with Safehomecentral’s assistance. They had the update files on their site and helped walk me through the process without having to get a local security company involved. I also bought the LTE card on this site and enrolled in their Alarm.com Basic Interactive service which lets me remote control my system from my home which was exactly what I was looking for. Finding a company that doesnt use contracts is pretty tough but Safehomecentral’s pricing was low and without a contract. Very happy.
Easy to get hooked up and online with their alarm monitoring. Needed a certificate for my insurance company and got service and a certificate within an hour of ordering!
I have been using Tim and Safehomecentral.com for 6 months now and of course when my three other shoe store locations came up for renewal I made the switch chopping my monitoring expense $42/month or to me $500 a year which is a big deal. Every dollar counts especially in today’s depressing market. Swapping over my 2GIG GC3 panels were easy, just signing up and entering my serial number on the cell card. Only know the Alarm.com app since I believe that is what 2GIG supports but its easy to use and the fact I can go to all of my locations from a single app is nice.
Just installed a Qolsys IQ2+ myself and started Alarm.com monitoring service with SHC. Knowledgeable techs answering my questions regarding adding sensors to my Qolsys panel with a quick and easy activation on Alarm.com. I already used Alarm.com at my last home and definitely wanted to stay with this app again. This time however I’m paying about half what I paid my last dealer for alarm monitoring who installed our Interlogix alarm system. Great experience with SHC so far.
The Alarm.com app for remote control of the system is awesome. I’m using a SEM210 with my DSC PowerSeries PC1616. I added a thermostat and a few S-Wave lights too which are also easy to control with the app on my phone. My wife also likes the fact we can now use Alexa to arm our system since Alarm.com has an Alexa skill. Sweet!
Very helpful technical staff! Was completely unsure how to start making a change from Brinks to Safehomecentral for my 2GIG GC2 and Tim helped me with how to get a free firmware upgrade through Brinks then replace my 3G cell card with a 4G card. I didnt realize that 3G was being turned off next year and never got any notice by Brinks (another reason to switch). After the last increase by Brinks I was able to save $25/mo going with Safehomecentral for the same thing and no contract. Really, really satisfied new customer!
I ordered a SEM210 on another site so I could use Alarm.com with my Honeywell Vista panel. While waiting for it to arrive I stumbled onto Safehomecentral and impressed with their monitoring pricing and lack of contracts. Spoke with Tim on the telephone and he stepped me through how to get signed up, how we would test everything, and what documentation such as a certificate for my insurance company (State Farm) I would receive. Two days later when the hardware arrived Chris got me all setup in under 30 minutes with Alarm.com and their central station. Despite not buying the SEM210 from Safehomecentral he helped me with the wiring and initial panel programming. The techs know their stuff and very patient with non-techies like me. Highly recommend their service and the pricing!
I ordered Alarm.com Self-Monitoring and the setup with Chris was super fast and easy. The hardest part was locating my serial number for the cellular board in my 2GIG alarm but after Chris walked me through how to find it was a snap. Love the app. Very simple to use and understand. I had Brinks earlier and this site’s pricing was half and their customer service sold me. I had a question at 10pm in the evening and they still answered their phones and helped me!
What more can I say – Saves me money, great technical support, friendly.
Outstanding customer support. Worked with Tim getting my Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus setup (sensors enrolled) as well as getting me going with Alarm.com Enhanced Package. Love the app and love my Qolsys panel!
I ordered an LTE cellular board for my 2GIG panel and signed up for alarm.com alarm monitoring. The cellular card that came with my alarm was a Verizon CDMA and found out it can no longer be activated with another dealer. Cutting $20/mo switching to SafeHomeCentral was the goal now that my Brinks contract was up. I had Brinks update my 2GIG firmware before leaving so my new LTE board would work. I popped the board in and fired off a cell test and my new alarm.com service was activated. Fast and simple works for me!
If you can have your current dealer remotely upgrade your system’s firmware to accept an LTE cellular communicator, do it! You can also flash upgrade a 2GIG GC2 yourself using a PC and the UPCBL2 firmware update cable made specifically for 2GIG GC2 panels.
I was paying $42 a month with less features than this site’s $17.95 plan. Switching was easy after getting Brinks to release the cellular communicator address in my Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Had to call three times to get them to cancel my alarm.com service. Was warned they might drag their feet and yes they will unless you keep nagging them. Squeaky wheel works.
I have a Simon XTi with RE928 cellular communicator. Can I use this with Alarm.com?
Hello Jake! The RE928S is a SecureNet card which works over the Verizon CDMA network. It can no longer be activated with Verizon after June 2018. If you are still using it with another company it will continue to function until Dec 31, 2019 when Verizon shuts down CDMA completely. We recommend the Alarm.com 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ as a replacement. Its a Verizon LTE communicator which is very fast and of course allows you to use Alarm.com for increased features compared to SecureNet. Very easy to swap cards yourself.
Is it very difficult to install the SEM on my DSC PC1832 hardwired alarm system? I like the Alarm.com features you list as well as the pricing.
Hello Art! The Alarm.com SEM attaches with just four wires and we guide you through the connection (over the telephone too if desired). Its actually pretty easy. Alarm.com is the way to go with DSC panels. Adds a lot of modern capabilities to older equipment.
Our installing dealer went of business so we were “forced” to find someone else to continue monitoring our Qolsys alarm. I called another local dealer and got similar prices to what we had been paying the past two years. However this dealer wanted us to sign up for a new 3 year deal. Spoke to my neighbor who recommended safehomecentral (they were using them). Price was roughly half with way more Alarm.com features. And to top it off, no contract. Pays to talk to neighbors sometimes 🙂
I have a Honeywell Vista-20P with a landline. I want to move to cellular and also be able to control my Vista from my phone. Can I use Alarm.com or do I need to use Honeywell AlarmNet? Alarm.com appears to have much better options.
Hello Jack! Honeywell’s AlarmNet using Total Connect 2 works well with Vista panels and really all Honeywell alarm panels, hardwired and wireless. However Alarm.com does have a dual-path communicator (ADC-SEM210-VT-VZ) that allows Vista-10P, Vista-15P, Vista-20P, and Vista-21IP panels to work with Alarm.com assuming they were manufactured after 2005. If you sign up for our Interactive-Enhanced or Interactive-Gold Alarm.com service plans you’ll be able to not only remote arm and diarm your Vista panel but also control Z-Wave lights, locks, thermostats. Both Honeywell AlarmNet and Alarm.com have options for video cameras though Alarm.com is less expensive.
I’m using Alarm.com today through my local security guy (company) which installed my Qolsys IQ Panel. His pricing is frankly more than double what you have listed on your site. Is it difficult to change companies? My three year deal with them has expired.
Hello Ned! As long as your “contract” with your existing dealer has expired making a switch is very easy. We can generally do a take-over (switch) same day. Just choose the Alarm.com package you want which can be different from what you have today (features). Also please complete our Monitoring Enrollment Form needed by the central station for emergency dispatches. We are here until 9pm EDT 7 days a week doing alarm activations.
How do I know if my 2GIG alarm panel will work with Alarm.com?
Hello Julie! If you have a 2GIG GC3 (their latest) then it will definitely work with Alarm.com. If you have a GC2 model which is older then the answer is maybe. It comes down to the cellular communicator inside the control panel. Most GC2 panels were sold with Alarm.com cellular communicators but there were also Telguard and SecureNet communicators out there too. The communicator must match the interactive services company. A Telguard GC2 communicator must use Telguard interactive services. The same goes for SecureNet and Alarm.com. If still unsure just give us a call and we can help you identify what model and communicator you own. Not as hard or complicated as it sounds.
Great range of Alarm.com options. I’ve been researching security company pricing to monitor my Qolsys IQ Panel 2+ and by far these guys bundle in the most features while keeping very competitive pricing. A requirement was no contract since I want the freedom to easily change monitoring companies if they fail to perform. I just don’t want to get locked in with ADT or Brinks and looking online is my best option. I signed up for their Interactive-Enhanced package since it made the most sense for my IQ Panel 2+.
